Tanks 22 are firstly supplied with gas, e.g. CO 2 under pressure, and then fed with a liquidgas mixture at a higher pressure, and means are provided to receive the gas therefrom during the feeding of the mixture. The gas and liquidgas mixture are contained in a reservoir 10 supplied with gas through a line 18 and valve 20, and with liquid through a line 16. The tanks are supplied with liquid-gas mixture through a manifold 26 and lines 72, and with gas via a fitting 40, a regulator valve 38, line 36, valve 46, manifold 34 and lines 66. A regulator valve 50 with a vent tube 60 to atmosphere to coupled to the manifold 34, and a three-way valve 58 is located, as shown, in the manifold. The valves 38 and 50 are of the diaphragm type with adjusting screws 52, 54 respectively and are biased in accordance with the instantaneous pressure in the reservoir 10 so that they operate at differential pressures which are constant relative the reservoir pressure. Valve 38 admits gas to the manifold when the pressure therein falls too low, and the valve 50 releases gas therefrom when the pressure is too high. The gas manifold pressure may be 10-15 1b. per square inch less than the reservoir pressure, and the valve 50 may be adjusted to release at 2-3 1b. per square inch in excess of the pressure at which valve 38 closes. Each tank is fed with gas through a check valve 68 of the floating ball type which cuts off the supply to the tank when the pressure therein is equalized with that in the manifold 34. The liquid-gas mixture is then supplied and the counterpressure gas is returned to the manifold to be fed either to a further tank or to be vented through the valve 50. The valve 68 prevents liquid flowing to the gas manifold when the tank is full.
