Abstract

974,110. Disc brakes. H. TEVES, E. A. TEVES, and M. TAUSEND, [trading as ALFRED TEVES MASCHINENUND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM.-GES.]. March 9, 1961 [March 10, 1960], No. 8672/61. Heading F2E. In a spot-type disc brake, the applying means 3, 4 are articulated to the stationary member 2 at the places 14, and a self-servo device comprising rollers 15 acting on inclined surfaces 16 is provided, the applying means and the selfservo means acting on the lining supports 11 in different areas. Hand operation is provided by a Bowden cable 8 acting through links 5, 6 pivoted together at 19 such that both links rotate in the same sense to apply the brake. The supports 11 are connected to the levers 3, 4 by spring-loaded studs 17 movable in slots 23 to allow circumferential lining movement under servo action. In another embodiment (Fig. 4) the applying levers 40, 41 are pivoted about self-servo balls 31 carried in adjustable inclined surfaces 30 screwed into the casing 2, the adjustment being locked by a spring 32 which also serves to retain the levers 40, 41 to the casing. Hydraulic actuators 43 acting through tiltable struts 42 are carried in the casing 2. In another embodiment, the hydraulic actuators are omitted and the applying levers are pivoted on the casing and act on the lining supports through tiltable struts.
