Abstract

973,780. Piston packings. GELUSEMA ANSTALT. Dec. 28, 1962 [Jan. 4, 1962], No. 48739/62. Heading F2T. The plunger 1 of an injection-moulding machine comprises a core 2 having a diameter less than the internal diameter of the cylinder 4 and provided at its forward end with a metal sealing ring 7 which is of larger diameter than the core and is shaped to provide a flexible tapered annular metal blade 8 extending forwardly relative to the core and obliquely to the cylinder wall 5 to bear against, and thereby scrape, the latter upon movement of the plunger. A second blade 9 may be provided behind the blade 8 defining a space 10 in which moulding material leaking past the blade 8 may accumulate. The ring 7 may be made of bronze and is screwed on to the core 2. In a modification, the. blade 8 is in the same vertical plane as the front face of the plunger.
