Abstract

890,840. Injection moulding machines. PACKAGE MACHINERY CO. Sept. 9, 1958 [March 20, 1958], No. 28914/58. Class 87(2). A valve 64 operatively connected to a plunger 32 closes a valve port 56 when the plunger is in its retracted position and during the first part of the forward stroke of the plunger so as to build up pressure on the plastic material in a chamber 50 before the valve 64 opens and injection through a nozzle 58 takes place. The valve 64 may be of triangular or other shape providing bearing surfaces engageable with the wall of the port 56, and has a land 66 for closing the port 56. The valve 64 is screwed into the plunger 32 which reciprocates within a rotary screw 30. The screw 30 feeds material to the chamber 50 through ports 48.
