Abstract

Nylon hosiery is decorated by applying a thermoplastic resin solution having dye-resist or dye-receptive properties to pattern areas of said hosiery while in the greige, setting said resin to the hosiery by heating and dyeing the so-treated hosiery with a dye suitable for nylon. In a specific embodiment nylon stockings are printed with a solution of nylon 8 salts in a predominantly methanol solution, boarded at 19 p.s.i.g. in a standard steam retort and dyed in a conventional dyebath. The specified types of dye are disperse and water-soluble metallised dyes.
