971,029. Stoppers. S. M. LIBIT, and A. W. NEWBY. May 15, 1962 [June 29, 1961], No. 15870/62. Heading B8T. A two-part dispensing closure with one or both parts of resilient material, e.g. polyethylene, comprises a fixed part 10 screwed or otherwise attached to a container 20 with a cylindrical cavity 25 therein to frictionally and rotatably receive a correspondingly shaped knuckle 51 of a spout part 11 provided with a passage 57 extending therethrough; in the dispensing position, Fig. 3, the passage registers with a bore 60 in the fixed part, and in the closed position, Fig. 4, the spout part lies flush with the fixed part. For the latter purpose the main cavity has a smaller cavity extending laterally therefrom and suitably shaped to receive the outer end of the spout part. The cavity 25 includes opposed flats 31, 32 which urge the knuckle 51 against an embossment 41 surrounding the bore 60; the embossment may extend from a raised pad 42. The spout part, which is snapped into the cavity 25, may have its handle of slightly larger radius over its lower part providing small shoulders 54, Fig. 8. A pad 56 adjacent the passage 57 is also provided on the knuckle. Projections 94 on the cavity end walls co-operate with cavities on each side of the knuckle when the spout is in the dispensing position to thereby resist rotation of the spout beyond that position.
