[Also in Divisions F1, G3, G4 and H4] A fluid amplifier, Figs. 1 and 1A, comprises a sandwich plate construction 11, 12, 13 of metallic, plastic, ceramic or other suitable material in which the central plate has a Y-shaped channel consisting of a power jet supply nozzle 15, a control jet nozzle 16 and two receiving passages 17, 18 connected via bores in the plate 12 to supply and receiving conduits. In the absence of a control jet from the nozzle 16 the main stream from nozzle 15 divides equally into passages 17, 18. On application of a control jet from the nozzle 16 the main stream is diverted to vary the proportions in which the stream is received by passages 17, 18. The arrangement of Fig. 1 may be modified by the provision of a second control nozzle 46, Fig. 2, opposite nozzle 16 so that the main stream is determined by the difference between the pressures of the two control jet streams. This arrangement may be used as a yaw control of a jet aircraft, Fig. 6. The main jet nozzle is connected to the jet exhaust chamber 57 and the two control nozzles are connected to nose orifices 55, 56 and the output passages 17, 18 to wing orifices. If the plane slips in the direction of arrow S the strength of the control jet 16 is increased and the resulting increased flow from the passage 18, 27 produces a reaction in the direction of the arrow R.
