Abstract
1292105 Fluid regulation CORNING GLASS WORKS 1 April 1970 [3 April 1969] 15341/70 Heading G3H [Also in Division G4] Pure fluid proportional amplifier, comprises a supply passage 16, two outlet passages 26 and 28, two entrainment passages 32 and 34 each of which is open to atmosphere at 46 and 48, respectively, and two control passages 38 and 40. In the absence of flow in the control passages 38 and 40, the supply is divided equally between the two outlet passages, such supply serving also to entrain fluid from the passages 32 and 34. Upon a signal being applied to, say, control passage 40, as indicated by arrow 50, such signal acts in opposition to the entrained fluid 36 in passage 34 and so creates a low-pressure zone A in consequence of which the supply fluid is directed in a greater proportion to the outlet passage 28. Conversely, a signal in passage 38 causes the supply to be directed into passage 26. In modifications, Figs.3 to 6 (not shown), the amplifier can be made to operate as a digital device or as a OR/NOR gate.
