Abstract

970,358. Pulleys for endless belt conveyers. DODGE MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Aug. 15, 1963, No. 32324/63. Heading B8A. A pulley for an endless belt comprises a cylindrical rim 12 into which are welded two centrally apertured discs 14, 16. Hub constructions 20, 22 for each disc comprise a dished member 24 welded at its periphery to the internal face of the disc and having a central aperture smaller than that in the disc, in order to receive the tapered outer surface of an axially bored bushing member 32. The latter is slotted right through one side and is secured in place by bolts 40 passing through a flange 42 in the member 32, and holes in the disc 14 and dished member 24 on which nuts 48 are secured. Spacers 52 surround the bolts between each disc and dished member. Threaded holes are provided in the flange 42 to receive bushing extractor bolts which abut the outer face of the disc. Slots are provided in the bore of the bushing members 32 and in the shaft 38 passing therethrough to receive a locating key. The surface of the rim 12 may be straight or crowned. Modifications include the heads of the bolts 40 being welded to the inner surface of the dished member and the separate spacers 52 being replaced by a single spacing cylinder encircling the central apertures in the disc and dish members.
