Abstract

969,124. Lift trucks; pallets. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Oct. 23, 1962 [Nov. 13, 1961], No. 40033/62. Heading B8H. In a tractor-mounted fork-life apparatus, members 15, 16 secured to a plate 14 on the lifting carriage 12 are provided with pairs of brackets 25, 31 supporting pins 27, 32 on which pairs of brackets 21, 30 secured to tines 20, 19 are rotatably mounted. The tines are rotatable between the dashed and full-line positions by a double-acting hydraulic ram comprising a cylinder 34, secured to the plate 14 by a strap 35 and to a strut 37, bolted to the members 15, 16, by a pin 36, and a piston-rod 39, connected to a yoke 41 which is coupled by links 42 to the tine brackets 21, 30. Pallets.-A. drop-bottom pallet for use with the above fork-lift apparatus comprises two pallet halves 46, Figs. 4, 8, which have spaced upper and lower boards 47, 49 and which are pivotally connected along the outside longer edges of the pallet to a rectangular frame 50 of round steel rod. The pallet is adapted for use with a corrugated paperboard container 55 having a bottom which is open except for opposite marginal flaps 56 which are inserted under retainers 54 mounted on the upper surfaces of the pallet halves. The pallet and container may be made as a unitary sheet metal structure, Fig. 9, the pallet halves 59 having . slots 60 for the fork tines and being hinged to the lower edges of two opposite sides of the container portion 61.
