Abstract

1,080,914. Load handling attachments for tractors. R. SANDERSON. July 25, 1966 [Oct. 8, 1965], No. 42853/65. Heading B8H. Means for detachably attaching a fork lift unit to a tractor comprises a pair of spaced apart brackets 9 on the tractor, a pair of fork lift supporting arms 12, pivoted at 13 to the brackets, hooks 12a on the arms 12 for interengagement with pins 15 on the lower end of the fork lift unit and a linkage 14 connecting arms 12 to an hydraulic lift on the tractor so that the arms 12 can be pivoted up into alignment with the brackets 9 and pinned thereto at 16. Stays 17 are then fitted between the tractor and the arms 12. The fork lift unit is further supported and movable within limits by an hydraulic ram 18 pivotally connected between the tractor and the fork lift unit. The fork lift unit comprises a pair of upper side channel members 2 telescopically received in a pair of lower side channels 1. The fork 5 is mounted on a wheeled carriage movable up and down the upper side channels 2 by means of chains passing from the carriage over top sprockets 8 and connected to the lower side channels 1. The carriage moves as the upper side channels 2 are moved relative to the lower side channels by lifting ram.
