Abstract

968,257. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI S.p.A. Jan. 14, 1963 [Jan. 29, 1962], No. 1558/63. Heading B7C. A pneumatic tyre comprises a resilient strip 5 (Fig. 1) extending from bead core 3 up the sidewall at least one-third of the way to the widest part of the tyre, tapering as shown and made of rubber and/or natural and/or synthetic elastomer having a greater hardness than any other compounds used in the tyre. In Fig. 1 the carcass ply is turned up outside strip 5. In Fig. 2 strip 25 is bifurcated and the ply end inserted between the two limbs 6, 7 of the bifurcation. The tyre may have more than one ply, and one of these at least has cords extending radially.
