967,754. Packages. AB. AHLEN & AKERLUND FORPACKNING. Oct. 24, 1961 [Oct. 24, 1960], No. 38012/61. Heading B8C. The fin produced by sealing together opposed margins of a wrapper in forming a longitudinal seam or end closure, has a gap in one of its constituent strips to expose the adhesive coated surface of the other, this surface permitting sealing down of the end closure flaps or fin. In one embodiment, gaps 16, 17 permit sticking down of corner tabs 13, 14, the gapped portions being doubled on themselves. In another embodiment, in which the fin is a side seam 19, a gap 23 is rendered more effective by a tab extension to enable a flap 27 to be secured. The side seam may have, in addition, one fin strip projecting at 27 beyond the other for securing by additional means to the package exterior. The adhesive areas shown may be heat sealing or pressure sensitive.
