964, 854. Layering fabric. BENTELERINTERTEX ORGANISATIONS A.G. Jan. 14, 1963 [Jan. 12, 1962], No. 1632/63. Heading D1S. A depositor for stacking a web such as fabric in folded layers comprises a uniformly oscillatory laying roller above the stack to be laid, preceded in the direction of web feed by a compensating roller having an amplitude of oscillation in the rates ¢: 1 to that of the laying roller, the compensating roller being adapted to move in the same direction, as viewed in the direction of web feed, as the laying roller and the web being supplied to the laying roller substantially parallel to its plane of oscillation. In the arrangement shown laying roller 3 is linearly oscillated through a distance '1' above the table 1 in the direction indicated by arrow E so as to lay the 2<SP>1</SP> in a stack 2. Preceding the laying roller 3 there is a compensating roller 4 which is caused to move in the same sense as the laying roller 3 but with half the amplitude i.e. ¢ 1 of roller 3. A stationary, uniformly driven supply roller 5 feeds the web 2<SP>1</SP> uniformly to the depositing apparatus. In operation starting from A the roller 3 moves to B and deposits a length '1' of web. The roller 4 simultaneously moves from C to D and a length '1' of web 2<SP>1</SP> is fed by supply roller 5 thus a length 2 1 of fabric passes the point F one length '1' being taken up by the movement of roller 3. When laying roller 3 returns from B to A roller 4 simultaneously moves from D to C and a length '1' is fed by roller 5. This length however is taken up by the movement of roller 4 so that no fabric passes point F the roller 3 merely depositing the previously extending layer on to the stack 2. Other embodiments show the invention applied the oscillating lever type of layering device.
