Abstract
963,952. Hatch covers. GESELLSCHAFT FUR SCHIFF-UND GERATEBAU. Feb. 27, 1962 [March 1, 1961], No. 7601/62. Heading B7S. [Also in Division B5] A hatch cover plank comprises a foamed plastic filling 4 disposed within outer cover-plates 1, 2, which may be metal or non-cellular plastic, possibly reinforced with fibre or metal, and longitudinal spacers 5 which may be plastic or metal. A non- cellular plastic layer 3 is disposed below the upper plate 1 to increase the resistance of the plank to bending. The plastic layer 3 may be prestressed with reinforcing strands of glass fibre or steel wire. The spacers 5 may be augmented with transverse spacers and they may be of zig-zag form. Side plates 6 of metal or plastic may be provided. The Specification describes a process (see Division B5) for producing a plank in a mould.
