963,282. Track aligning machines. F. PLASSER, [trading as FRANZ PLASSER BAHNBAUMASCHINEN]. Jan. 31, 1961 [Feb. 16, 1960], No. 3703/61. Heading B7N. A machine for aligning rail track comprises a wheeled chassis 1 with track lifting and packing devices 4, 3 disposed at the forward end thereof, an anchor point 7, disposed above an axle 5 of the chassis on a connected portion of the track, for a wire 12 which extends forwardly of the chassis to a trolley 8 situated on an uncorrected portion of the track. The wire extends over a pulley on the trolley and is tensioned by a weight 10. A measuring rod 14 mounted adjacent the track lifting device determines with reference to the line the amount of lifting required to bring the track into alignment in the vertical plane. The trolley 8 may be kept at a fixed distance ahead of the machine by means of a spacer rod 13 or the trolley may be clamped to the track and a tensioned pulley provided, on either trolley or chassis, which maintains a constant tension in the constantly shortening wire as the machine moves up to the trolley. With means for moving the track laterally the arrangement may also be used to align the track in the horizontal plane.
