Abstract
960,975. Plate-type heat exchangers. UDDEHOLMS A.B. May 30, 1962, No. 20777/62 Heading F4S. A heat exchanger element comprises two metal sheets 1 and 2, each formed with two parallel longitudinal rows of depressions 3 separated by a land 5, the sheets being. placed face to face and sealed around their marginal edges 4 and along the land, the overlying depressions forming two continuous zig-zag channels extending along the length of the rows, an inlet and outlet being provided at one end of the rows while the opposite end has a common depression 8 which provides communication between the two zig-zag channels. As shown, depressions 3 in the two sheets are in the form of equally spaced troughs of the same shape and size. The element may be bent longitudinally to provide a non-planar unit in the shape e.g. of a circle, a spiral (Fig. 4, not shown), a cylinder, a square or a zig-zag configuration. Several elements may be connected in series.
