Abstract

957,812. Cabinets. SHANNON Ltd. March 7, 1963 [March 16, 1962], No. 10185/62. Heading A4B. A metal cupboard includes top and bottom front members 14, 16 of channel section having a vertical web 18 and rearwardly extending flanges 17, 19, the end of each front member 14, 16 carrying an L-section part which projects either upwardly or downwardly beyond the channel section and has one flange 20 integral with the channel web 18 and the other flange 21 extending rearwardly. The cupboard sides 6 and 8, top 2, back 5 and bottom 6 are of sheet metal and the front members 14, 16 are formed from a thicker metal sheet. The sides 6, 8 are provided at their front edges with inturned flanges 32 which are formed either of double thickness by bending back to extend along the side wall, as at 33, or alternatively of single thickness and reinforced by a bent U-section clip. Threaded stubs 35 on the flanges 32 of the sides 6, 8 engage holes 37 in L-part flanges 20 which are joggled, as at 36 to accommodate the side flanges 32. Further studs 28 on the sides 6, 8 engage flanges 26 on the top 2 and bottom 4. The doors 10, 12 which seat on channel lips 22 are hinged and slidable to be housed between the sides 6, 8 and partitions 40.
