Abstract

<PICT:0956342/C1/1> <PICT:0956342/C1/2> A composite pyrolytic graphite article (Fig. 1) is produced by cementing together a plurality of spaced pyrolytic graphite plates 11 by a coating 12 of pyrolytic graphite, the plane of deposition of the graphite in each plate being at an angle, preferably a right angle, with the side face of the plate. In a modification (Fig. 2), a rocket nozzle is formed by cementing together a plurality of rings 15 by a coating 17 of pyrolytic graphite between and on the outside of the rings. The pyrolytic graphite may be produced from methane. The coating may be produced at a temperature of 1850-1900 DEG C. and a pressure of 1 mm. of Hg.
