Abstract

956,005. Dispensing liquids. AUTOMATIC CANTEEN CO. OF AMERICA. Oct. 19, 1960, No. 35827/60. Heading A4T. [Also in Division G4] A beverage dispenser comprises electric selective means operable to select a flavour syrup for discharge and to control the discharge simultaneously of predetermined quantities of the selected syrup, fresh water, and/or carbonated water. The dispenser includes a fresh water supply pump 4, Fig. 1, which feeds an electrically operated fresh water valve 7 and a carbonating device 11 provided with a carbonated water electrical delivery valve 13, the fresh water and carbonated water being delivered through an outlet 9 along with the selected syrup delivered from syrup containers 15 ... 18, Fig. 2, by pumps 24 ... 27 which are selectively clutched to a driving motor by electromagnets 32 ... 35. The electrical circuit, Fig. 3, includes a coin-actuated switch 36 which, on insertion of a coin, energizes a relay 38 to supply current to one side of a motor 52, driving cam 54, 55, which operates for one complete revolution on each energization, and to a second motor 59 which operates the selected pump 24 ... 27, when it is clutched to the motor by energization of its associated electromagnet 32 ... 35. The desired syrup is selected by switches 39 . . . 42 which control the electromagnets 32 ... 35 and the fresh water and carbonated water valves 7, 13, are controlled by the cams 54, 55, operating switches 57, 58. Selection of button 42 causes operation of syrup pump 24 and carbonated water valve 13 only. Buttons 39 ... 41 are associated with switches 61 ... 63 which permit the supply of carbonated water only or a mixture of fresh and carbonated water. Selection of say button 41 causes operation of syrup pump 25 and, with switches 61 . . .63 in the full line position, the supply of carbonated water whilst with switches 61 ... 63 in the dotted line position, the supply of a mixture of fresh and carbonated water.
