Abstract

1350040 Dispensing beverages RE YNOLDS PRODUCTS INC 21 Aug 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 38817/72 Heading A4T In a beverage dispensing system water at 44, Fig.1 passes to a cooler 50 or via carbonator 52 and line 60 to the cooler, carbon dioxide at 54 connects with the carbonator and at 70 pressurizes flavouring syrups in containers 62-68 connected at 72-78 to the cooler. The liquids from the cooler are led via trunk 80 to a remote dispensing unit 10 where depression of one of levers 18-24 opens two valves manually or electrically to dispense at spout 14 e.g. one of three carbonated water or a fresh water syrup beverage, and at the same time actuates motor 38 to deliver ice from container 34 via tube 40 to the spout, the ice being made in chamber 28 and fed up to container 34 by auger under the control of a "container full of ice" switch. Depression of lever 18, Fig.2 opens both left hand valves 102, 104 to dispense fresh water and syrup. Depression of a lever 20, 22 or 24 opens one pair of valves 102, 104 of the three right hand pairs to dispense carbonated water from manifold 187 via a valve 102 into conduit 186 leading to the spout, and a selected syrup via a valve 104 and conduits 192, 194, 196 to the spout. Each valve has a lever 110 Fig.4 loaded by spring 120 and moving the actuator 106 of the valve 104 against a spring 108 via set screw 184, a lever set screw 178 closing a switch 180 actuating relays for the ice agitating motor and the ice dispensing motor. Six solenoid valves may be used in place of the four pairs of manually operated valves, two being respectively for fresh and carbonated water and the others for syrup. The set screw 184 and valve actuator 106 are dispensed with and the solenoid valve operated via relays controlled by switch 180.
