Abstract

955,899. Venetian blinds. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL (QUEBEC) Ltd. March 16, 1962 [March 17, 1961], No. 10241/62. Heading E1J. A unitary slat tilting and hoisting and lowering control mechanism for a Venetian blind comprises a lift cord hoisting drum 5 limited in rotation in a bracket 3 by projection 12 in a groove 13 and axially displaceable by an externally threaded portion engaging in an internally threaded portion of a tilting shaft 7 coaxial with the drum 5 and a slip coupling C-clip spring 9 is provided between the ladder tapes 11 and the tilt shaft 7. When the shaft 7 is arrested by the projection 12 contacting an end of the groove 13, the drum 5 may continue to be rotated moving axially and winding up the hoisting cord 6 in the grooves of the screw thread 5 that are released from the shaft 7 or else paying out the hoist cord 6 as the grooves are engaged by the thread on shaft 7. The drum 5 is mounted on a flattened tube 4 the end of which is secured in a cap 1 firmly fitted in manually or power driven head pipe 2 rotatably mounted in the bracket 3.
