In a venetian-blind remote control assembly a locking device 23 for the lift cords 18 and 19 to hold the slats at any desired height is disposed at a distance from the cord guiding device 10 and in a direction angularly related to the plane of the blind. The tilting cords 8, 9 pass around a drum 7 geared through a worm and gear 4, 5 to a shaft 3 mounting the bit rollers 2, and are guided through the side of the head rail 1 by a pair of rollers 12, 13. The lift cords 18, 19 are guided by rollers 16, 17, and additional lift cords may be guided by the third pair of rollers, the pairs of rollers being arranged in different vertical planes.
