Abstract

955,548. Level-luffing jib cranes. ORENSTEIN-KOPPEL UND LUBEEKER MASCHINENBAU A.G. July 6, 1960, No. 23678/60. Heading B8B. In a level-luffing crane in which the jib comprises two parts 5, 7, the luffing gear 9, 10 is fixed to a supporting frame 8 pivotally mounted on the pivot shaft 4 of the jib 5. The crane is pivotable through 360 degrees on a column 2 and is luffed by spindle and nut mechanism 10 connected to the jib at 11. A lifting rope 13 extends between a winch 12 and a block 18. To lower the jibs into an inoperative position, in which the jib 7 serves as a prop for the jib - 5, the lifting block 18 is first lowered to the level of the pivot shaft 4. The free end of a rope 21 which passes round a block 19 is taken over guide and auxiliary pulleys 22, 23, 23a and connected to a rope 25 at 24, the other end of rope 25 being fixed at 26. Operation of the winch 12 draws the rope 21 into the position shown. Straps 27 between the frame 8 and the frame 3 are now disconnected and the lifting cable paid out to lower both jibs to inoperative position, Fig. 2 (not shown). The jibs are erected by reversing this procedure. The rope 21 may be connected directly to the lifting hook or hooks, in which case the auxiliary rope 25 is not required.
