954,750. Rotary-piston internal combustion engines. DAIMLER-BENZ A. G. Feb. 25, 1963 [March 13, 1962], No. 7531/63. Heading F1F. A housing for a rotary-piston I.C. engine of the kind having an epitrochoidal inner profile with a biarcuate piston track, wherein a bush 3, preferably of hardened steel is profiled internally to form the piston track 5 and externally is substantially elliptical. The bush is pressed into a complementary-shaped elliptical opening in a heated housing body 1, preferably aluminuim alloy, with an appropriate interference fit, so that forces 6 holding the bush 3 act outwardly to securely anchor the bush. Coolant can be brought to the external surface of the relatively thin-walled bush. The bush may be pressed out of the housing and replaced by another bush to e.g., enable bushes of various materials to be tested for wear and adapt them to suit the material used for the radial piston seals.
