Abstract

953,894. Plate heat exchangers. A.P.V. CO. Ltd. Feb. 23, 1962 [Feb. 24, 1961], No. 6892/61. Heading F4S. A plate type heat exchanger wherein each plate has a peripheral groove accommodating a gasket 2 and in which superposed portions of alternate first plates are formed outside the groove to form two continuous interplate supporting surfaces 5, 6 running parallel with the length of the recess and co-operating with adjacent second plates on each side, and in which the second plates are corrugated to form bearing surfaces which bear intermittently against the respective surfaces 5, 6 on said first plates to provide interplate support outside the gasket recess. Various modifications to the outer wall 4 of both first and second plates are illustrated in Figs. 2 to 6 (not shown).
