953,483. Travelling-band filters for liquids. H. R. BLACK, C. HUTSON, E. STANESA, N. P. KEZAR, W. WALSH, J. A. MORRISON, and L. SIMONS, [trading as H. R. BLACK CO.]. April 17, 1962, No. 14772/62. Heading B1D. A filter assembly comprises a collection tank 25 containing a body of liquid to be filtered, and a filter housing 30 fixed in the tank and having end walls interposed between and engaging the tank side walls, the housing being open at its front and rear into the tank, having with the adjacent tank side wall an outlet 69 for the filtered liquid, and projecting outwardly of the tank to define a filter cleaning chamber 46. A chemical spray or cleaning booth 11 provides entry via conveyers 16 of articles to be treated and is supplied with liquid from the outlet 69 through a conduit 19 fed by a pump 72. A series of parallel spaced guide rollers 60, 61 are journalled within and extend throughout the length of the filter housing. A power driven roller 49 drives an endless filter belt 65 of, e.g., stainless steel, which defines with the housing end walls an enclosed filtrate chamber 68. Flushing outlets 76 are spaced along a pipe 73 and a rotatable shaft inside and driving the roller 49 has nipples for ignitable gas to heat the roller and burn lint collected thereon.
