Abstract

Compound fertilizers containing phosphates and ammonium nitrate are treated with an amino compound which is a primary or secondary amine such as toluidine or diphenylamine or a salt thereof such as the hydrochloride; or ammonium carbamate, ammonium sulphamate, acetamide, or calcium cyanamide, and may comprise 0.1 to 5.0% by weight of the fertilizer. It may be admixed with the fertilizer in the solid form or admixed or sprayed while in aqueous solution. The phosphate may be superphosphate, triple superphosphate, monocalcium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate, monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate or phosphoric acid; ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate and potassium chloride may also be added. In an example 0.25 or 0.1% by weight of ammonium sulphamate is added to a compound fertilizer. Specification 849,910 is referred to.
