Abstract

953,318. Thermoplastic containers; container closures. JOHN WADDINGTON Ltd., and J. M. BANKS. Sept. 12, 1960 [June 10, 1959], No. 19823/59. Headings B8D and B8T. A thermoplastic package, container or a lid therefor has a tab on which is a projection for piercing a weakened portion in the container or lid. As shown the tab 2 with a projection 1 is provided on a lid 3 of a container 4, the apex of a depression 5 in the lid being thinner, and the apex of the projection 1 being thicker than the remaining material. The tab may be formed separately from the lid and attached to it by adhesive. In a modification, Fig. 2, the shapes of the projection 1 and depression 5 are altered. Specification 949,604 is referred to.
