Abstract
952,042. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. CHO-ONPA KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Nov. 28, 1962 [Dec. 29, 1961], No. 45086/62. Heading B5K. [Also in Division H4] Apparatus for bonding plastics 5 by ultrasonic vibrations comprises a vibrating element 3 carrying the bonding tool 4 and which is hollowed out and provided with inlet and outlet pipes 7, 8, respectively, to allow a cooling fluid to pass therethrough. The element 3 is connected to a transducer 1 which converts electrical energy supplied by a generator 2 into mechanical vibrations. The pipes 7, 8 are preferably attached to the element 3 at a node so as not to impair the free vibration of the system. The element 3 may be made of a high strength steel.
