Abstract

951,339. Pallets. KIA-ORA GALVANISING CO. Ltd. Aug. 11, 1961 [Aug. 11, 1960], No. 29015/61. Heading B8H. The side and end members 1, 15, Fig. 8, of a pallet are formed from sheet metal and have flanges 8, 19, Figs. 4, 5, respectively, which support plattens 9, Fig. 8, and upstanding surrounds 12, 21, Figs. 4, 5, the centre of the plattens being supported by a member 23, Fig. 8. As described both the side and end members comprise inner and outer skins welded together and are formed with a step 11, Fig 4, which is flush with the upper surface of the plattens. The sides and ends may be stiffened by indentations or corrugations in the outer skin. Vertically disposed channel members may be attached to the side members to accommodate load-confining upright supports. So that the pallet may be used as a lifting cradle eyes or hooks may be provided on the side or end members, these eyes or hooks also being used for tying down bulky loads. The plattens, whichmay be placed in juxtaposition, are of inverted channel construction.
