In a binder for sheets which are filed on prongs 6a, 6b, the overturned sheets 7<SP>1</SP> are returned from the parts 6b to the initial position on the parts 6a when the cover part 5b is closed, by means of a frame or plate 8 having one end pivotally connected to the prong parts 6b by loops 9, and guided by two larger loops 11 or equivalent slotted members, assisted by a flat transverse member 12 which is non-tiltably guided on the prongs and is moved by the frame 8 when the binder is closed. The binder consists of a spine 5c and covers 5a, 5b, and two sets of prongs of which the parts 6b are lever-operated to permit sheet filing. The device 8 is shown as a wire frame with its inner ends pivotally mounted to the parts 6b by the two wire loops 9, and is guided on the prongs by the two long wire loops 11 provided on a cross-bar 8a of the frame. A pair of rollers 10 on the frame 8 reduce friction between the cover 5b and the frame during the closing of the binder. The flat transverse member 12 has two sleeves 13 of plastic material through which the filing prongs pass, and is arranged over the frame 8; this frame is raised non-tiltably by the frame to cause the sheets 7<SP>1</SP> to ride over the prongs without damaging the sheets or tearing the filing holes therein. The wire frame 8 may be replaced by a rigid plate of plastic material which is slotted to provide a means for guiding it over the prongs, and either provided with loops or further slots for pivotally mounting it on the prongs. The member 12 could be the ordinary follower for holding down the sheets in a binder, in which plastic sleeves 13 are inserted, but preferably the whole member is made of plastic material suitably contoured on one face for smooth engagement by the frame 8.
