Abstract
950,517. Heating and cooling liquids in bulk. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. July 18, 1961 [July 18, 1960], No. 25980/61. Heading F4S. [Also in Division G6] In an apparatus for heat exchange between a liquid and another fluid, the liquid flows through a casing 9 over tubes 8 (only one of which is shown) through which the other fluid passes, and a variable body of gas is maintained in the top of the casing to depress the liquid level therein and hence to vary the effective area of heat exchange surface between the two fluids. As shown, the liquid 13 is contained in the tank of a reactor of the swimming pool type in which the heat exchange is immersed so that liquid enters the casing 9. Circulation of liquid through the casing is maintained by a pump 14 by way of a duct 12 and ports 11 in the casing wall.
