1,118,527. Bucking and/or bleaching textiles in continuous length. JOH. KLEINEWEFERS SOHNE. 25 Nov., 1966 [18 Feb., 1966], No. 52901/66. Heading D1L. Continuous length cotton is kept below liquid level throughout its passage through a pressure vessel 1 containing a liquid for bucking or bleaching by introducing and removing the cotton through slots 2 arranged beneath liquid level and controlling the liquid level by means of a liquid-level regulator 14, 15 connected to a force pump 16 in the liquid supply pipe. The liquid is maintained at above 100‹C and the pressure within the vessel above one atmosphere by steam entering through line 6 and/or by external or internal heat exchangers 7. The liquid circulates through a cleansing device 9 containing removable filter elements 10. The vessel may be completely filled with liquid in which case the alterations in volume are taken up by a spring loaded expansion piston or an expansion membrane, and the regulation of the liquid supply takes place by means of a pressure gauge or by contacts operated by the expansion elements. A channel may connect directly with the exit slot in which the cotton is cooled and any gasses sucked off. Two such vessels may be connected in series, the first for bucking and the second for bleaching.
