Abstract

950,426. Making electric shave combs. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. July 13, 1962 [Sept. 12, 1961], No. 27047/62. Heading B3A. A method of making a comb for an electric shaver, said comb comprising a channel-shaped elongated member having two opposite sides interconnected by an integral bridge portion and having hair receiving apertures therein, comprises interconnecting the opposite sides by welding a support means therebetween and hardening said member. A support 11 having an opening 26 and a stud hole (not shown) positioned between said opening and each end of said support is spot welded at 12 to a U-shaped comb 7. The welds along each side of the comb are positioned from each other by punched reliefs, notches or cut-outs 27, 26<SP>1</SP> formed in the bottom edges of the comb. The intermediate pairs of welds are positioned between the opening 26 and the stud holes as well as between the cut-outs 26<SP>1</SP> and 27. Prior to welding the comb is ground and after welding is hardened and tempered. The top of the comb has a central groove 28 which separates the comb into two sections, each of which has alternated punched slots or apertures 29 and comb teeth 30.
