Abstract

A composition, for rendering cellulosic fibrous sheet material non-adherent to surfaces which normally adhere thereto, comprises (1) a linear siloxane of the formula Z-[(CH3)2SiO]n-R, where n is an integer of 2 or more, Z is CH3 or -OH, and R is H or (CH3)3Si-, (2) a siloxane of the formula (CH3)aHbSiO <FORM:0949959/C3/1> , where a has an average value of from 1.0 to 1.5, b has an average value of from 0.75 to 1.25 and the sum a+b is from 2.0 to 2.25 inclusive, (3) an alkyl polysilicate and (4) dibutyl tri-dilaurate or -diacetate. The above ingredients are preferably dissolved in a solvent, e.g. xylene, toluene, mineral spirits or tri- or per-chloroethylene. A suitable composition comprises (by weight) 1 to 30 pts. dimethylpolysiloxane, 0.01 to 10 pts. methylhydrogen siloxane, 0.1 to 40 pts. alkylpolysilicate, 0.01 to 5 pts. dibutyl tin salt and 60 to 97 pts. solvent. The compositions can be cured in 60 secs. at temperatures varying from 180 DEG to 300 DEG F. Examples are given.ALSO:Cellulosic fibrous sheet material is rendered non-adherent to surfaces which normally adhere thereto by treatment as by coating with a composition comprising (1) a linear hydroxyl or trimethyl terminated siloxane, (2) a methyl hydrogen polysiloxane, (3) an alkyl polysilicate and (4) dibutyl tin-dilaurate or -diacetate (see Division C3). The compositions are usually used in the form of solutions in solvents, e.g. xylene, toluene, mineral spirits, trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene. The compositions may be completely cured in times as low as 60 seconds at temperatures of 180-300 DEG F. Cellulosic materials specified are parchment, kraft, linen rag, rice and sulphite cellulose papers, glassine, regenerated cellulose, paperboard, cardboard, pulpboard and pasteboard. Examples are given.
