949,696. Metal sheet feeds. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Feb. 2, 1962 [Feb. 3, 1961], No. 4179/62. Heading B3W. In a sheet metal shears the feed stop comprises the vane of a rotating wheel, the breadth of which is equivalent to the length of the shear blades. A scrap metal shear comprises a fixed lower blade 14 and an upper blade 13 driven by an eccentric 17 mounted on a shaft 1. Also mounted on the shaft is a chain sprocket-wheel 2 which drives a sprocket-wheel 4, through a chain 3, with a reduction ratio of 3 : 1. On the same shaft as the sprocket 4 is a three-vaned wheel 6. Scrap 10 to be cut is fed down a guide 12 until it abuts a vane of the wheel 6 which is in the position shown when the blade 13 is at the top of its stroke. As the blade 13 descends the vane rotates and the scrap moves down the guide until it is held by the contact of the upper blade. As the scrap is sheared vane moves away so that the sheared-off portion falls freely into the shoot 20.
