Abstract

Pencillins are prepared by fermenting under aerobic conditions a suitable nutrient medium with a pencillin-producing species of the genus Penicillium in the presence of a liquid organic acid halide as precursor. Penicillins prepared by this process include a -chlorobenzyl-, benzyloxy-, p-tolyl-, a -phenylthioisopropyl-, phenyl- and 2-chlorophenoxymethyl-penicillin.
