[Also in Division F4] A grain drying apparatus comprises a pre-cleaning chamber B supplied with the grain from a hopper 5 which falls under gravity and in counter current to a heated gas or air flow from an inlet 6 in the base of a surrounding drying chamber C, which counter current carries off lighter impurities through a discharge outlet 7. The flared open end of the chamber B extends into the chamber C to allow the grain to flow into this chamber where it is dried by a fluidized bed technique created by the air flow from the inlet 6 before the flow passes upwardly through the open end of the chamber B. The dried grain in the bed is carried upwardly and flows through lateral. apertures 3 into a surrounding chamber D having an outlet shoot 4.
