[Also in Divisions A4 and E2] A fastening device for releasably securing together in side-by-side relation at least two cans c of the kind having at one end a peripheral bead 10 which projects both endwise from the end of the can and laterally from the wall of the can, comprises a body of deformable synthetic plastics material which has, for each can so secured, at least one portion which is adapted to engage over and inside the bead and portions which are adapted to engage under the bead to hold the bead between the portions, the portions being engageable with and disengageable therefrom by flexing of the body material. In one arrangement, Figs. 1-4, wherein each device interconnects four cans, the body of the device is formed with four portions 14, each having a shoulder 15 for engagement with the inner side of the bead 10 of the corresponding can, and with hookshaped teeth 16 to engage the outer side of the bead. An aperture 22 is provided adjacent the root of each tooth 16 and a slit or slot 24 extends from each aperture 22 along each side of the tooth to assist flexing of the tooth. Each portion 14 is extended to form a tab 30, and a skirt portion 28 defines a central aperture 26, the tab and skirt facilitating the application and removal of the device from the can. In other constructions, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the device is used to interconnect two and three cans, respectively, and in another construction, Figs. 9-14 (not shown), the device comprises two sections integrally joined by a bridgeportion by means of which six cans may be clipped together to form an integral package.
