Abstract

947,095. Cravats. H. V. PUCKRIDGE. Aug. 9, 1962 [Aug. 9, 1961], No. 28765/61. Heading A3V. A cravat comprises two elongated bands made substantially of patterned textile fabric, namely, a neckband 5 and a fall 6, Figs. 1 and 2. The visible parts of the bands, preferably, have the same pattern. The neckband is provided, adjacent its ends, with co-operating fasteners 7 and 8, e.g. hooks and eye-holes. The fall, near the centre of its length, is attached to the front of the neckband, e.g. permanently as by stitching 14, or detachably as by a narrow strip of fabric 15, Fig. 4, stitched only at its ends to the neckband, or by buttons, so that, when worn, two parts of the fall hang one in front of the other. The bands may be of flattened tubular form. The neckband may comprise plies of fabric 10, 9 and 12, Fig. 3, ply 9 constituting a stiffening lining. The neckband, e.g. its front ply 10, may be provied with one or more longitudinal, folded, decorative tucks 11. The fall may be provided, e.g. between the broken lines 13 of Fig. 2, with an internal stiffening lining. Tucks or gatherings may be formed in the fall to reduce its width at the neckband. The stiffening lining of each band may be replaced by a removable strip of stiffening material inserted into a pocket formed in the band. According to the Provisional Specification, the rear portion of the fall is provided with a pocket opening at the top. A rectangular sheet of plastic material is bent outwardly and transversely, so that its curvature increases from its bottom towards its top end, and is inserted into the pocket to hold the fall of the cravat in a graceful curve.
