Abstract
946,564. Air heating apparatus. W. EBERSPACHER, and H. EBERSPACHER, [trading as J. EBERSPACHER]. April 4, 1960 [April 4, 1959; June 19, 1959], No. 11891/60. Heading F4S. [Also in Division F1] In the air-heating apparatus shown in Fig. 1, the combustion apparatus 1, 2 draws in air and fuel mixture through a line 3 and the combustion gases discharge through outlet 9 at the throat of an injector device 10, 11, thus drawing in turbine exhaust gases from the chamber 18 around the combustion apparatus. The gas mixture then flows through the turbine inlet nozzle assembly 13 before acting on the turbine rotor blades 14. The turbine exhaust gases discharge through duct 15, 16, 17 to the chamber 18, a portion of the gases discharging to atmosphere through the outlet 19. The turbine drives a blower 20 which draws in air through the inlet 21 and passes it through two passages in parallel 22, 25 and 23, 24 respectively wherein the air is heated by indirect heat exchange with the turbine exhaust gases flowing in the duet 15, 16, 17, 18. The heated air finally discharges through the outlet 26. In other forms described air is heated in flowing through an annular space formed around a combustion chamber.
