Abstract

946,139. Valves. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. April 21, 1961 [April 21, 1960], No. 14613/61. Heading F2V. Multi-way valves controlling the fluid supply and exhaust to and from hydraulic or pneumatic devices for regulating the raising and lowering of a motor vehicle seat consists of an actuating lever 17 with a T-shaped handle 21 universally mounted in a rubber bush 15. The lever 17 engages a forked member 22 pivoted on valve 9 which member coacts with pins 26, 27 to operate the valve, whereby pipe 27<SP>1</SP> is either connected to a supply pipe 26<SP>1</SP> or an exhaust pipe 27<SP>11</SP>. A member 28 also on the lever 17 has forked projections 29, 30 guiding pins 31, 32 carried by members 33, 34 on pivots 42, 43 on two further valves 7, 8, the members 33, 34 co-operating with pins 38, 39 and 40, 41 respectively. The pins 12, 13 are guided by slots 12, 13 in the casing. A spacing sleeve is mounted on the stem 17 between bush 15 and member 28. The seat height is adjusted by lifting or depressing the handle 21 along arrow 24 to actuate valves 7, 8. Rotation of the handle operates the valves 7, 8 in opposite senses so that seat is e.g. raised at the front and lowered at the rear. Each valve may be separately actuated by vertical movement of one end of the handle 21 so tilting the lever 17. Horizontal motion of the handle 21 operates valve 9 to cause forward or rearward movement of the seat. Composite movement of the handle effects a combined operation of the valves. Provision may also be made for the handle to move axially in the bush to actuate a further valve controlling movement of the back of a seat.
