Abstract

945,341. Packages; bags. NATIONAL BISCUIT CO. Dec. 13, 1961 [Dec. 19, 1960], No. 44583/61. Headings B8C and B8K. A closure tape for folding over the flattened mouth of a bag has areas devoid of adhesive or of thinner adhesive, these areas flanking the mouth edges of the bag so that when part of the tape is torn off, the bag may more readily be opened. The tape may be heat-sealed in position. Areas of thin adhesive B, D traversed by perforated tear lines 18 may be provided so that if the tear line is above the bag mouth, the edges of the latter may readily be separated. Alternatively, areas similar to B and D but spaced from the tape ends (Fig. 5, not shown) may have no adhesive coating. The tape may be a laminate including a metal foil which enables the remaining portions 12, after opening, to be folded to temporarily close the bag, the foil retaining the portions folded.
