Abstract

943,661. Collapsible tanks. FLIGHT REFUELLING Ltd., and P. S. MACGREGOR. July 25, 1962 [Sept. 15, 1961], No. 33156/61. Heading E1T. A collapsible tank for bulk liquids comprises an inner flexible bag 42 and an outer rigid but collapsible box composed of a box plate with low side walls 12, 14, 16, 18, four side panels 22, 24, 26, 28 and a top panel 32 adapted to slide piston wise in the rectangular tube formed by the side panels, the side panels being hinged to the box plate walls so that they can be folded flat in overlapping relationship, means 36 being provided for releasably fastening the assembled panels together and the mouth of the bay being scaled into a closable opening 40 in the top panel. The top panel bears by means of rubber-tyred ball-bearing guide rollers on the side panels, see Fig. 4 (not shown). The tank has a filling and emptying valve unit 46, 56 which is operated hydraulically under the control of a float mechanism 58, 62 in known manner. Vents 66, 70 and lashing points 20 are also provided.
