A brush consists of plastic rings 1 having integrally moulded bristles 2, the rings being non-rotatably mounted on a shank of handle 4. A retaining cap 8 has a spigot 9 which is a tight fit in a bore in the shank which is of cruciform cross-section (Fig. 2, not shown).
