Abstract

943,574. Packaging. W. C. LEASURE. Jan. 30, 1962 [Jan. 30, 1961], No. 3389/62. Heading B8C. The external former 8 which shapes the strip into a tube receiprocates in the packaging machine frame as described in Specification 918,469 and its stroke is about twice the length of a finished package so that when the stripper plates 17, 18 and the shaping plates 19, 20 are moved into position by the rams 9, 10 and the former 8 is raised the material 22 in the package is compressed. The sealing jaw 16 is then moved in by the ram 14 to coact with the jaw 13 to seal the package and separate it from the tube. During the upward movement of the former 8, the roller 6 moves downwardly to take up the slack in the packaging strip. Specifications 440,328 and 913,114 also are referred to.
