Abstract

942,113. Rotary meters. SUN OIL CO. May 29, 1962, No. 20649/62. Heading F1F. A liquid flowmeter of the turbine type comprises vanes 30 mounted upstream of the rotor 18 (Fig. 1) and means for twisting the vanes to alter the calibration of the meter. The vanes 30 are mounted at their downstream end in slots in a ring 29 and in slots 33 in a bearing member 31. The vanes may be twisted for initial calibration of the meter by rotating the ring 29 by means of a screw 79, on which is eccentrically mounted a peg 81 which engages a slot 67 in the ring. At the upstream end, the vanes are held in slots 44 in a ring 43 (Fig. 2), this ring being rotated to twist the vanes as the liquid temperature varies. A bulb 48 communicates with bellows 49, which expands as the temperature rises, lifting a plunger 55, which rotates the ring 43 through a lever 58, pivoted at 59, and a plunger 62. The position of the pivot pin 59 may be altered by a rack and pinion 68, 69, to cater for different liquids.
