Abstract

941,802. Injection-moulding hair curlers. TWINCO Ltd. Dec. 5, 1961 [Dec. 24, 1960], No. 44364/60. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A4] A tubular hair curler a has longitudinal bars c formed with bristles to engage hair wound on the curler, some of the bars having bristles arranged in a double row with the bristles of one row opposite spaces between the bristles of the other row. The bars c are interconnected by spaced arcuate bars d and have inwardlyprojecting ribs f which extend into the unbristled end parts b of the curler. Two diametrically opposite bars c have a single row of bristles and contain the meeting plane X of a pair of die blocks in which the curler is moulded from liquid plastic entering through flow passages q. Each block has a cylindrical depression j with recesses k to mould the bars c and spaced radial grooves 1 to mould the bristles. Double rows of bristles are moulded in deep recesses m also having spaced radial grooves b in their walls and which receive blades n having staggered radial grooves l. The ungrooved edge of each blade n is reduced to facilitate insertion and removal of the blade, passages p being provided for knocking out or blowing out of the blades. Bores r, displaced in relation to each other, allow insertion of locating pins for the core which is shaped to form the ribs f on the inside surface of the curler.
