Abstract

940,437. Two-part couplings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Jan. 2, 1961 [Jan. 11, 1960], No. 128/61. Heading H2E. A socket contact 13 comprises a barrel'portion 21 defining a socket 16 for receiving pin contact 15 and having an integral contact finger 31 extending forwardly and downwardly into a slot 22 in the barrel. Near the forward end of the socket 16 is a circumferential channel 23 in which a spring clip 26 is located, said clip having legs 27, 28, wrapped around the barrel and a lug 29 extending into a recess of slot 22 so as to engage the edge 34 of contact finger 31. The forward portion 32 of the finger 31 has a protuberance 33 engaged by contact 15 when inserted into socket 16, whereupon both the contact finger and the clip are displaced outwardly against the resilience of the spring legs 27, 28, of the clip. The protuberance 33 may be a transversely extending rib, a longitudinally extending rib or a semispherical projection.
